Why cementitious for tanks?
Cementitious coatings bond with the concrete itself, are safe for drinking water when the approved grade is used, let vapour pass so they do not peel, and are easy to repair locally.
Application steps
- Empty and clean the tank.
- Inspect and repair cracks.
- Reinforce corners with a cementitious fillet.
- Pre-wet the surface.
- First coat, evenly applied.
- Second coat in the opposite direction.

When to re-line
A good cementitious lining lasts 5–15 years. Watch for changes in water colour or smell, external leaks, or cracking in the coating during inspection.
