Overview

What you should know about polyurea coating

Polyurea was developed for heavy industrial use and then spread into construction for a combination no other material offers: it sets in 5–15 seconds, resists water, chemicals and abrasion, and bridges concrete cracks without breaking.

It costs more than conventional systems, but its long life and fast application make it the most economical choice for critical projects: drinking-water tanks, high-traffic industrial roofs, basins, channels and facilities that cannot tolerate long downtime.

We lined exposed concrete basins at a commercial project in Riyadh with hot-sprayed polyurea. The concrete was prepared, corners and pipe penetrations treated, then the floor and walls were sprayed in a single working day, leaving one continuous, seamless grey membrane.

Is polyurea safe for drinking-water tanks?

Yes, when a system certified for potable water contact is used.

Polyurea or spray foam?

Foam insulates and waterproofs large roofs at lower cost; polyurea is an ultra-durable waterproof membrane for tanks and industrial applications but does not insulate.

Can polyurea be sprayed over foam?

Yes, a strong system combining foam's thermal insulation with polyurea's mechanical protection.
