What you should know about cementitious waterproofing
Cementitious waterproofing is a cement-based mix with special additives applied by brush, roller or spray. It is safe for potable water, fully compatible with concrete, and lets vapour pass so it neither traps moisture nor peels.
It comes in rigid types for floors and loaded slabs, flexible types for tanks and pools whose concrete moves, and crystalline types that penetrate concrete pores and seal them from within, the strongest against high water pressure.
Where it fits
Drinking-water tanks
Safe when the approved grade is used.
Swimming pools
Flexible type tolerates movement and accepts tiles directly.
Basements and buried walls
Crystalline type resists groundwater pressure.
Inspection chambers and basins
Protect concrete constantly exposed to water.
How we install it, step by step
- 1
Clean the surface
Remove oil, dust and weak material and open the concrete pores.
- 2
Repair cracks
Fill cracks and honeycombing with approved repair mortar.
- 3
Pre-wet
Essential so the concrete does not draw water from the coating.
- 4
First coat
Even application starting at the corners.
- 5
Second coat
In the opposite direction after partial curing.
- 6
Curing
Keep the coating damp during curing to prevent surface cracking.

Is cementitious waterproofing safe for drinking water?
Yes, when a potable-approved grade is used, it is the most common choice for home tanks.
How long does it last?
5–15 years depending on type, application quality and curing.
Is it suitable for exposed roofs?
We don't recommend it as the final layer on sun-exposed roofs; flexible systems are better there.
